2024 Buick Regal Wagon Changes, Cost – Buick has always been a high-end brand introducing high-end vehicles to the market. Granted, most of these vehicles were Chevrolets dressed in corporate attire, but that doesn’t lessen their value. However, they haven’t been excellent vehicles either. So what distinguishes the Regal Sportback from other cars? First, the Regal is now built in Germany, which translates to “better construction quality,” in layman’s words.
A decent secondhand car is the 2024 Regal. It comes in two different body styles: the Regal TourX wagon and the Regal Sportback hatchback. Both models have a potent engine, a comfortable ride, and cargo space. The cabin contains a lot of inexpensive plastics, and the fuel efficiency predictions are subpar. The estimated costs of owning this Buick are the highest in the midsize sedan class, and it isn’t as quick as some of its competitors.
2024 Buick Regal Redesign
Depending on who you ask, General Motors’ relationship with the German automaker Opel has produced a Regal resembling a European vehicle more than an American one. The GS’s thin body hides a hatchback-style liftgate and ends in a back end that looks like both the Lexus IS 350 and the BMW M2, but it does it with confidence thanks to a sporty-looking spoiler on the back. With those 19-inch aluminum wheels with Technical Gray highlights and sizable brushed-silver foglight surrounds, we think it looks very dashing in GS trim.
Daytime running lights, halogen headlights with the flash-to-pass feature, automatic on/off, and automatic delay are all standard on the exterior of the 2024 Buick Regal GS. All of the taillights are LED. The driver-side mirror has auto-dimming, and the side mirrors are heated. Although it has a sportier appearance than the conventional Regal, we’re not sure if it will be enough to persuade younger customers.
Inside, the 2024 Regal Wagon has stylish and comfortable front seats with heating, cooling, and massaging functions. Even if the remainder of the cabin is generally muted and some of the materials are uninteresting, a flat-bottom steering wheel and metal pedals give off an air of sportiness. The Regal’s cargo area is just as helpful, and the back seat is just as roomy as the standard Regal. Seven carry-on suitcases and an additional 12 bags—a total of 19 bags—fit behind the rear seat when the back seat is folded. We couldn’t do either amount of luggage in the trunks of the TLX or the IS350 sedans.
A snappy 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot is standard on every GS. A head-up display, wireless charging, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system are desirable extras.
There are no turbocharged four-cylinder engines present here. Buick has stuck with a classic V6 in the GS, in this case, a 3.6-liter engine, which delivers a solid 310 hp at 6,800 rpm and 282 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 pm. This machine is coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system, which delivers most of the energy to the front wheels when cruising but may transfer some of its ability to the rear when there’s strong energy demand. The V6 engine has a nice, smooth surge of power that can make you think you’re not going too fast, but you’re picking up speed at a fantastic rate. The nine-speed automatic transmission keeps the 3.6-liter engine in its powerband, surprisingly.
The 2024 Buick Regal GS never had much chance with its naturally aspirated V6 engine, AWD system, and considerable curb weight. While the US suffers a premium for its vast capacity motor, competitors like the Chevrolet Malibu and Audi A5 have modern turbo engines that help increase gas mileage estimates. Considering how peaky the engine is, the EPA’s rating of the Regal GS at 19/27/22 mpg city/highway/combined is wishful thinking. The base Buick LaCrosse gets 25/35/29 mpg from its 2.5-liter inline-four, while the Chevy Malibu gets 22/32/26 mpg with its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and FWD layout. That score drops down to 20/29/23 mpg in the 3.6-liter AWD variant.
2024 Buick Regal Release Date and Price
The most expensive Buick Regal model is the GS, which emphasizes performance. The GS is the most expensive model in the series, with the FWD 2.0T basic model starting at $25,370. That makes the GS $13,700 more costly than its lowest Regal sibling, minus tax, registration, and a destination fee of $925. Buick faces a challenge when it approaches the $40,000 threshold because several other automakers sell better cars for about the same price. The Dodge Charger R/T, for instance, packs a 5.7-liter, 370-hp V8 punch and just as much practicality for only $36,395, and the accomplished Honda Accord in top-spec Touring 2.0T guise goes for only $36,250—it’s arguably the more dynamically accomplished car despite being less powerful, for around $2,820 less.
